I wish I was a better writer because this is very important for anyone who is diagnosed with Macular Degeneration. After all, our vision is at stake. Recently, I was diagnosed with Wet Macular Degeneration, and I have the “black hole” in my left eye vision. In my right eye, I have Dry Macular Degeneration. Initially hesitant about opting for shots or injections, I remained undecided until I stumbled upon the invaluable reviews shared by fellow Macular Degeneration patients, recounting their experiences at Dr. Vadim Dekhtyar’s practice. It helped me make the decision to call his office and make an appointment. He is a wonderful doctor. In addition to the Acunova Acupuncture treatments, Dr. Vadim advised me on what vitamins to take for eye health, what foods are the most beneficial and which foods are not helpful. He gave me eye exercises to do to strengthen the muscles in my eyes. I love this last one – walk, walk, and walk and get that circulation going. I am now up to 7,000 steps per day and I will be increasing my step count each week. I saw a Retina Specialist at the very beginning of my treatments with Dr. Vadim and I again saw the Retina Specialist two days after my last treatment with Dr. Vadim. The Retina Doctor said the Wet Macular Degeneration in my left eye was stable and holding, so I do not need eye injections. Additionally, the Dry Macular Degeneration in my right eye was in GREAT condition. The Retina Doctor did not say that at the first visit and seemed very surprised at my second visit. I have retina pigmentosa (night blindness) since childhood. For as long as I remember, I cannot see in low light where other people can see. Recently, after I hit my mid 40s. I started loosing my peripheral vision. I can’t follow flying balls (e.g. tennis ball), I can’t locate mouse cursor on the computer screen, If I drop something on the floor, I can’t see it unless I back out. How I heard about AcuVision treatment? Recently I’ve been searching the internet for new developments in the treatment of my condition, but I haven’t seen any. Last time I searched, I prayed the Lord to help me find Herbal treatment – not medical. The search results came back with Acupuncture treatment. This treatment is not a cure for retina pigmentosa, rather it is to revers peripheral vision loss and/or prevent it from getting worse. I was glad to find a local Acupuncture doctor that works with patients that has my condition. I called Dr. Dekhtyar’s office, and I explained my condition and the reason for my call. The doctor explained how this procedure works and arranged for the first visit. The doctor took the time to understand my condition completely. He looks at the condition from a total health and diet perspective. The procedure includes 10 day intense treatment (3 days a week). The needles go in the hands and the sole of the feet, and forehead. No, the needles don’t go in the eyes 😊. Each day I spent about two and a half hours at the doctor’s office. In terms of pain, it’s a needle of course it will hurt a little, but some spots hurt more than others. Once the needles are put in place, I don’t feel any pain.

I was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration about a year and a half ago. I was told by my doctor there's nothing that can be done. The only thing they could do was give me vitamins and that just was not good enough for me. So, I did my research and found that there was something out there, acupuncture. Looked it up, researched it, found that Doctor Boel in Denmark came up with something that sounded promising. So, I thought I am not going to sit back and just wait for myself to go blind. I am not have that vision, so I became proactive. Found Doctor Dekhtyar. Talked with him, he spoke with me, told me what was out there, what was promising, what to expect, what not to expect. And I thought, I'm giving it a shot. So, in my eighths visit I'm very happy with the way things have gone. I have a little bit of fuzziness in my right eye and it seems to have gotten better in certain lighting, so I'm hoping fingers crossed that if it doesn't reverse it, at least it stops it or slows it down. That's my goal. Doctor Dekhtyar is wonderful, so I highly recommend him. Good luck.

For the first time in my life, I had difficulties completing the required vision test when I was renewing my driver's license. It was at that moment that I remembered that three years ago I had been diagnosed with Macular Degeneration. My eye doctor told me that there was no treatment for this condition only an observation. I wasn't ready to give up driving, which is why I was thrilled when I heard a segment on the radio about an alternative way to improve vision for people with macular degeneration. I called the office and scheduled an appointment. Dr. Vadim explained the procedure to me in great detail, and we started with acupuncture treatments. I was impressed by the positive atmosphere, service, and it wasn’t painful. There is a huge parking lot in front of the building and a small pond with a bench, which is where I like to spend my time between sessions. I especially liked the eye massage treatment with the special glasses. I have noticed that my vision has gotten better throughout the treatment course. I am grateful to Dr. Vadim and his staff.

Macular Degeneration is a disease which runs in our family and has already robbed my cousin and my brother of their vision. I myself developed the proverbial black hole in my one (dry) eye a year ago, wondering every morning if my remaining (wet) eye would still function that day. Dr. Vadim Dekhtiar’s acupuncture treatment for AMD was my last hope to postpone the inevitable. I have had good success with acupuncture in the past and was already aware of experimental AMD treatments which, of course, require very special training and expertise. Coming to this area, I heard of Dr. Vadim’s reputation and was sure that he would not want to compromise it by offering questionable interventions. The treatment I got was a very intensive course lasting about a month, to be repeated periodically in the future. For me, having no idea what my response was going to be, it was a tremendous investment physically, financially and emotionally, but about halfway into it, I was beginning to notice a slight overall improvement and was anxious to follow up on it during the next appointment with my retinal specialist. And indeed, the exam confirmed that my condition was stable, not requiring injections, and showing a slight improvement in vision. If I had known a year ago, perhaps the formation of the black hole could have been delayed! Thank you, Dr. Vadim, and I will be seeing you again for the next installment.
